Not Rain!

Last night I was awakened by what I thought was rain.  It was a bit dark so I turned on the light in my room.  What I saw was not rain.  Instead it was a swarm of large wasps banging again the screen window.  I tried to take a photo, but it was late, dark and I wasn’t wearing my glasses so the image is not very clear  But the light only drew more wasps to the screen and I was afraid that they would get into the room.  So, I turned off the light, sat in darkness and hoped they would fly away.  They did and I have not found any of them inside my room.

I was able to find the source of the wasps.  After an afternoon tea break, I took a walk behind the College for Higher Tibetan Studies with one of the translators and an astronomer who is here teaching.  We walked through a small Indian village and came across a large group of monkeys by the side of the road.  As we looped back to the College, we walked past the building where we were staying.  As I looked up to my room, I saw a large wasp nest (see photo) attached to the window just below my room.  The nest is as large as an air conditioner.
