Enchey Monastery

This afternoon we had a little bit of rain.  Nothing heavy, but enough to freshen the air and lower temperatures a bit.  The rain did not dampen the spirits of the monks as we took another field trip to one of their monasteries.

A few of monks from the workshop make the Enchey Monastery their home.  This monastery is located high above the main part of Gangtok.  We took about 7 taxis to get everyone from the Institute to the monastery.  Once there, one of the monks in the workshop gave everyone a tour of the main temple and explained the origin of the monastery.

Of course, a monastery tour would not be complete without some food and tea.  So we were all escorted to a small monastery café where we were served a meal of noodles, soup, momos and tea.
